• Job responsibilities:
• - Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements including sales, procurement, distribution, logistics, export, and IP-related contracts.
• - Provide practical legal advice to support business operations while effectively managing legal and contractual risks.
• - Lead and manage litigation and disputes, including overseeing external counsel and settlement strategies.
• - Advise on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, licensing, import/export, sanctions, and cross-border legal matters across Southeast Asia.
• - Support corporate secretarial matters, including board resolutions, minutes, statutory records, and regulatory filings.
• - Develop and maintain legal templates, policies, SOPs, and compliance programmes.
• - Conduct legal training and drive legal process improvements across the organisation.
• - Partner closely with stakeholders across Sales, Procurement, Supply Chain, IT, Finance, and other business functions.
• Job requirements:
• - Qualified lawyer admitted to the Malaysian Bar or another Commonwealth jurisdiction.
• - Minimum 12 years' post-qualification experience (PQE).
• - Combination of experience in a reputable law firm and an in-house legal role within a multinational corporation.
• - Experience supporting manufacturing and/or FMCG businesses is highly preferred.
• - Regional legal experience covering Southeast Asian markets.
• - Strong commercial contracting, corporate governance, compliance, and dispute management experience.
• - Able to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and provide commercially pragmatic legal advice.
• - Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
• - Fluent in English; Mandarin and/or Bahasa Malaysia would be advantageous
