What a Lever application looks like
A Lever posting lives at jobs.lever.co/company/…, and the application form is the shortest of the big systems: name, email, phone, current company, links, a resume upload, sometimes a few questions the employer added, and a note field. Then a captcha, the one with the picture puzzles, and the submit button.
The captcha is the whole story. It is built to tell a person from a program, and it does that job well. A script that fills the form and posts it never gets past it, and a browser with no screen fails it too. That is why most "auto apply" tools skip Lever jobs, or claim them and leave you with an application that never arrived.

Questions people ask
Why does a captcha stop other tools? Because they run in a browser with no screen, which the captcha treats as a machine, or they post the form directly and never see the captcha at all. The employer never gets that application.
