- At Rapsodo, engineers take ownership from concept to production, working across multidisciplinary teams to build innovative products that transform complex motion into actionable insights at global scale.
About the Role
As a Game Engine / 3D Developer, you will develop and optimize 3D golf games built with Godot 4 and C# within Rapsodo's Kotlin Multiplatform mobile application. You will focus on delivering high-quality visuals and smooth performance on iOS and Android devices while maintaining a clean, testable architecture. Working with AI-assisted development tools, you will contribute to both game engine development and mobile integration.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain 3D golf games using Godot 4 and C# within a Kotlin Multiplatform mobile application.
- Improve visual quality through lighting, materials, shaders, terrain, vegetation, and camera techniques.
- Profile and optimize performance on mobile devices, focusing on GPU usage, draw calls, batching, LODs, and texture budgets.
- Maintain integration between the game engine and mobile application, including Android plugins, iOS hosting, and JSON-based communication.
- Separate game logic and physics into engine-independent, testable .NET libraries and maintain code quality through unit testing.
- Debug iOS and Android builds, analyze device logs, and support reliable deployment across mobile platforms.
- Use AI coding tools in daily development, critically review generated code, and maintain clear architecture documentation and handoff notes.
- What We're Looking For 5+ years of professional Unity development experience using C#; Godot experience is a plus, not a requirement.
- Experience shipping at least one mobile 3D project.
- Strong understanding of 3D mathematics, including vectors, quaternions, transformations, and coordinate systems.
- Experience with technical art, lighting, post-processing, terrain, vegetation, shaders, and materials.
- Knowledge of HLSL, Shader Graph, or GLSL, with the ability to adapt shaders across engines.
- Hands-on experience with mobile GPU profiling and optimization tools, such as Xcode GPU Frame Capture or Android GPU Inspector.
- Strong C# skills, including clean architecture, engine-independent logic, and unit testing.
- Experience debugging iOS and Android builds, with familiarity with Git, shell scripts, command-line tools, and headless builds.
- Practical experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot, with the ability to evaluate and improve their output.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Godot 4 and C#.
- Native mobile development experience, including Android plugins with Kotlin/Java, iOS with Swift/Objective-C, or Unity as a Library.
- Experience with procedural mesh generation, GIS, or elevation data.
