Data/ Oracle Engineer
Purpose
The Data / Oracle Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise data platforms and Oracle-based systems that support business applications, reporting, analytics, and digital initiatives across the organization. An ideal candidate will have hands-on experience supporting databases, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise applications within an Oracle Cloud environment.
The role provides hands-on technical expertise in Oracle databases, data engineering, integrations, and performance optimization, ensuring data availability, integrity, security, and scalability. Operating within a sovereign wealth fund environment, the role requires strong technical discipline, documentation rigor, and adherence to governance and change management standards.
Core Responsibilities
- 1. Oracle Database Engineering & Administration · Design, implement, and support
- Oracle database environments across development, test, and production.
- · Perform database administration tasks including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, backup, and recovery.
- · Monitor database performance and availability, conduct tuning, and resolve complex performance issues.
- · Implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., Data Guard, RMAN, Autonomous Database, Exadata, OCI Load Balancer).
2. Data Engineering & Integration
- · Design and develop data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and integrations between Oracle databases and enterprise applications.
- · Design and implement Oracle Fusion use cases in response to evolving business requirements across HR, Finance, and other functional domains.
- · Support data ingestion from multiple sources including ERP, HR, finance, and business systems.
- · Develop and maintain data models, schemas, and transformations to support reporting and analytics needs.
- · Ensure data consistency, accuracy, and reconciliation across systems.
3. Analytics & Insights
- . Support enterprise analytics solutions across Oracle Cloud and Oracle Fusion environments (e.g., Oracle Analytics Cloud, Fusion Analytics Warehouse).
- . Design and maintain analytical data models, dashboards, and reports to support business decision-making across HR, Finance, and other domains.
- . Enable data integration and ingestion from Oracle Fusion and OCI sources into analytics platforms using standard Oracle tools and services.
4. Performance, Reliability & Optimization
- · Proactively identify and resolve data and database performance bottlenecks.
- · Optimize SQL queries, PL/SQL procedures, indexing strategies, and data structures.
- · Support capacity planning and growth forecasting for data platforms.
- · Ensure system stability and minimize downtime through proactive monitoring.
5. Security, Governance & Compliance
- · Implement database security controls including access management, encryption, auditing, and segregation of duties.
- · Ensure compliance with internal IT governance, data security standards, and audit requirements.
- · Maintain accurate technical documentation, configuration records, and change logs.
- · Support internal and external audits by providing technical evidence and documentation.
6. Cloud, Automation & Modernization
· Support Oracle solutions in Oracle cloud environments · Automate database and data operations using scripting and tooling where appropriate.
· Support modernization initiatives such as data platform upgrades, system consolidation, and integration with analytics platforms.
7. Incident, Change & Support
- · Participate in incident resolution, root cause analysis, and problem management for data and database issues.
- · Execute approved changes in accordance with change management procedures.
- · Provide second- and third-level support for Oracle and data-related issues.
Requirements
Education & Qualifications · Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
· Oracle certifications such as OCI Foundations Associate, OCI Integration Cloud Professional, Autonomous Database Cloud Professional or data engineering certifications are an advantage.
Experience Requirements
- 7–10 years of experience in Oracle database administration and data engineering roles.
- · Strong experience working with enterprise Oracle environments in financial services, government, or high-availability organizations preferred.
- · Proven experience supporting mission-critical systems and data platforms.
- · Experience working in structured IT environments with strong governance and change control.
Technical Expertise / Skills / Knowledge
- · Strong expertise in Oracle Fusion Environment, SQL, PL/SQL, performance tuning, and backup/recovery.
- · Experience with data integration tools, ETL frameworks, and data pipelines.
- · Knowledge of data modeling, reporting, and analytics enablement.
- · Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and scripting (Shell, Python, etc.).
- · Experience with cloud-based data platforms or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is an advantage.
