  • What's the role?
  • The official job title is Head of Sources and Mechanical Handling and will be based in our Dubai office.
  • The role is responsible for leading the seismic source, mechanical handling and NHV back deck activities of the Company to support the delivery of best-in-class fleet performance. Key responsibilities include:
  • Mechanical handling, source and NHV technical support.
  • Manage a department of support staff (mechanical/Instrument and field-based engineers) to provide first line technical and operational support to vessels and onshore departments as directed.
  • Maintain source, mechanical handling and NHV back deck specifications and standards for marine acquisition projects.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve the Company’s seismic source, mechanical handling and NHV back deck technology and technique with a focus on environmental, safety, and operational efficiency and excellence.
  • Keep abreast of changes in source, mechanical handling and NHV back deck technology and proactively make recommendations to Management for enhanced service offerings.
  • Manage key suppliers of related technical services.
  • Monitor mechanical and back deck department spending, procurement and prepare budgetary forecasts for new technology.
  • Monitor mechanical and back deck related downtime across fleet and implement programs to reduce this as far as practical.
  • Develop and maintain Competency catalogue for the technical department personnel (onshore and offshore).
  • Support Human Resources in the selection and development of mechanical and Instrument personnel.
  • Ensure that the Company management system is implemented, adhered to, measured, and improved by all in the related tech department organization.
  • Assist in responding to technical queries for tenders.
  • Assist in marketing in the related technical services to Clients.
  • Frequent international travel, sometimes at short notice.

Occasional visits to, and onboard vessels

  • Fulfill their assigned responsibilities as part of the Emergency Response team in line with the Emergency Response Plan and duty list as required.
  • Who are we looking for?
  • Has detailed knowledge of, and extensive experience with, marine seismic survey methods and technologies relating to towing and handling and sources.
  • At least degree level in an engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • As frequent travelers conduct vessel visits:
  • BOSIET or FOET certification is required.
