Accounting Assistant

  • As an Accounting Assistant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of our financial processes. You will be part of a dynamic team where your contributions help us achieve our mission while working in a culture that values service, relationships, and teamwork.

Assist with accounts payable and receivable processing

  • Reconcile bank statements and financial transactions
  • Prepare and maintain financial records and reports
  • Process invoices, payments, and expense reimbursements
  • Assist with payroll processing and employee wage calculations
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and company policies
  • Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end closing
  • Assist in financial audits and provide necessary documentation
  • Handle data entry and maintain accurate accounting databases
  • Respond to vendor and employee inquiries regarding payments and payroll
  • Assist with budgeting and financial forecasting tasks
  • Support the accounting team with administrative tasks as needed
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and perform account reconciliations
  • Assist in preparing tax filings, and other payroll-related documents
  • Track and process employee benefits, deductions, and garnishments
  • Generate financial reports and summaries for management review
  • Monitor and process expense reports in accordance with company policies
  • Assist in developing and improving accounting procedures and controls
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of payroll taxes and filings
  • Communicate with external vendors, banks, and financial institutions as needed
  • Stay updated on changes in accounting and payroll regulations
  • Carry out other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned to the position from time to time.

Requirements

  • Qualifications:
  • Accounting Certification – Level 1 ACCA Technician or equivalent level in Finance / Business
  • Must have 2 years of experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge in the use of accounting software
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working collaboratively towards common goals.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Willingness to work onsite in Georgetown, Guyana
